Also (in practice) EOL (unless you have a formal
support contract). The project has moved to be
primarily forward looking, and backports to anything
other than LTS releases (and 5.6 and 5.9 are LTS
releases, not 5.7 or 5.8) are less likely to be
resourced (and there are no plans for any further
"point" releases for 5.7 or 5.8, so you would be
applying patches outside of releases even if
patches are backported).

All software has bugs, but the bugs that exist
only matter if you hit them. 5.7.1 has generally
been considered reasonably stable, but if you
go through the qtbug tracker, it can be a bit
worrisome to see what is does not work properly
(perhaps until you recognize that some are specific
edge cases, although a few looked to be general).

But the long term future is clearly not Qt 5.7 or 5.8.
Plan (or hope someone else plans) accordingly.
Of course, in the long term, neither is MythTV 0.28
the future (v29 is right around the corner?)

My advice (which is worth less than nothing)
would be if 5.7.1 works for you, go with it, until
it does not work (for you).
