Copied from 'digest' reply
The recordings that I cannot watch are the current .ts files.
The videos that I cannot watch are .ts files and (whatever they were)
0.27 .mpg files
The videos that I can watch are .avi files (but as stated above both
video and audio codecs are copy ie 0.27 .mpg and 0.28 .ts)

You might find Ticket #12388 relevant - I'm not sure what changes have
been made since, but I'm not seeing uPnP problems now in 0.28-fixes or
master. Panasonic tv. ISTR Samsung-specific problem reports, though.
Before that ticket I used to be able to watch recordings as videos after
scanning the output folder of the mythlink script.
'mythbackend --setverbose upnp' sent to a running backend might give
useful hints,too.
I have another upnp curiosity with GingkoDlna under Android 4.2.2 using
VLC as the renderer. I don't have much Android experience, but find
that during playback sound works but the screen is black except when the
tablet is rotated. Then a good video display appears, rotates through
90 degrees with appropriate change of scale,...and fades away.
So far I haven't been able to use another renderer. Might be a wifi
rate problem but the router is in the same room and wired to the Myth box.
