[mythtv-users] channel 4 partially broken - RESOLVED

Nope it wasn't a channel scan issue. Likewise, there was nothing wrong
with the channel numbering. It turns out that this might be a bug. Two
separate observations led me to a workaround.
1) Myth seems to be able to "understand" that when I press "99<Enter>"
on a keyboard or remote (meaning I want to go to channel 9.9), I'm
really telling it to go to 9_9. Same thing with other channels. e.g
31.3=313=31_3. This is pretty nice since most remote controls don't
have an underscore.
2) When I've done a channel scan in the past, I would simple mark my
unwanted channels as "invisible" in the channel editor. This seemed to
work fine.
Now, back to my channel 4 problem. I found that Myth seems to have
trouble differentiating between my channel 4.1 and channel 41.1 (or any
of the 41 series - 41.2, .3, .4, etc). I discovered that when I hit
"41", myth was always waiting for another integer. Indeed, if I would
hit 411, Myth would dutifully change to 41.1. It just so happens that I
don't watch any of the 41 series channels which is why I had marked them
invisible initially.
I've now deleted the entire channel 41 series from the channel editor
and now when I hit 41 Myth takes me straight to channel 4.1 like it's
supposed to. Problem solved. It's a good thing I don't watch any of
the 41 series of channels, I guess.
I'm not sure this is a bug but I think I'll report it anyway. I just
think that if I hit 41<Enter>, Myth should go right to 4_1 instead of
assuming that it should wait for additional integers.
