My last thought - do you get the same behavior using the new internal 
web interface? This *might* be the patch 
(https://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/9939) that added the functionality 
to mythweb (6 years ago) which *might* give some clues as to how it can 
be disabled but otherwise will need to wait for someone with better 
knowledge of mythweb to assist.
