I was getting error with playback. I don't use GLX to paint the screen, so
was able to load the front end but not play anything. On looking, I was
running the nvidia-404 legacy drivers.I did the following:

sudo apt-get purge nvidia"*"
sudo apt-get install nvidia-367

And now everything's working again.
