I was concerned over the change in file name, but that seems to be cosmetic
at best.  As far as mpeg4, I welcome the change but worry that
mythtranscode might not be able to remove commercials.  It has been a while
since I tried, but it was never able to transcode hdpvr recordings in the
past.  As you say hardware support should be better once the switch
happens, think of all those Android devices.
