[mythtv-users] end of NTSC cable, TWC/Comcast merger--what it means for me

You have to be careful with terminology. It's not the encryption that
prevents people from using MythTV (and an appropriate tuner) with TWC but
the copy protection. All my channels (except maybe the locals) are also
encrypted, but I can still record most of them with an HDHomeRun Prime
tuner and a rented CableCard from Comcast. The channels I can't record are
the premium channels (e.g., HBO, etc.) that are flagged as copy-protected
(which TWC applies to all channels).
