That was badly done..
I believe that the recordings directories should be mythtv owner &
group, new recordings should be created that way by BE.

Ubuntu help suggests these permissions which purport to match the
original installation recordings path /var/lib/mythtv/ :
u=rwx,g=rwxs,o=rx

Need to check the mount point for any external partitions mounted into
the filesystem.
