Is that log created with "-v channel,record" ?   If so, then the recording
has not actually started when commercial detection is starting up -- all it
has done is /start/ to tune it.  There should be further messages when it
has actually started the recording.

If that log was not created with "-v channel,record" please change your
mythbackend startup to include it.
