I bought a HD PVR 2 to try and add support myself, but ran into
show-stoppers. The HD PVR 2 model that is currently support is the "gamer
edition". It does not support the S/PDIF input for audio. It also does
not currently support AC3 via the HDMI input. For me, both of those
shortcomings make it completely uninteresting to me.

I have reached out to Hauppauge and they have agreed to extend support to
the non-gamer-edition, but it is going to take time. When they have it
working, I will work on adding support to MythTV, but that is also going to
take time. Based on my research so far, I am guessing it will take over
200 hours to develop a solution. Since I have a day job, the most I am
likely to put into it is ~6 hours per week. You can do the math.
