I just installed Nvidia 340.96 driver via Settings>Additional Drivers, rebooted  and mythfrontend works correctly using Nvidia driver.    Nvidia X-server settings shows GeForce 210

Nvidia 304.131 driver was also available for install but I have not tried this.

 I wish I could test this myself, but unfortunately don't have a setup I can use for this.

 Mike: after rebooting to the nvidia driver, did you do any refresh-rate tests?  My setup running Wily + Nvidia is failing to do judder-free as X is not finding the Nvidia Control module:
343408.826] (EE) Failed to load module "nv-control" (module does not exist, 0).

 It would be very good to know that this is NOT a problem in 16.04 when following the official nvidia install path.

 Just try playing back some material with known frame rates on a monitor that can handle them (matching or double) and check that the refresh rates are set correctly.
