Please follow list etiquette and bottom post.  Top posting is very
difficult to follow when multiple people are contributing to a discussion.

If you want HD, then you would need to get something like the Directv H24
or H25.  The problem with both of those, though, is that they only have
coax for the digital audio, while the HD-PVR1 only accept optical for
digital audio.  That means that either you have to settle for analog stereo
audio, or get a coax to optical converter.

The Yellow connector is for standard-def, and maxes out at around 740x480.
The Red/Green/Blue is for high-def and maxes out at 1920x1080.  The
Red/White is for analog stereo sound.

The HD-PVR has both Y for SD and R/G/B for HD.  It has R/W for analog
stereo sound.  It also has a optical digital input for 5.1 digital surround
sound.
