The question wasn't how many amps does the HDHR draw, it was how many
amps can the power supply provide.  A DMM isn't very good for
measuring short fluctuations in current.

That said, it does look like a good number.  If going from 0 amps to
.85 amps only drops the voltage from 5.24 to 5.17, it should be able
to supply the power required.

Did you try the VAC measurement to look at the ripple?
