All words are made up.  And languages evolve
(the adding of a new word to the OED makes
big press in certain circles).

The origin of human language itself has a number
of theories, but without evidence, they are just
theories (and the experiments on humans needed
to eliminate a few of the theories would not pass
the IRB).
