directory="/var/lib/mythtv/recordings"

infile=$directory/${chanid}_${starttime}.mpg


That won't work unless you have a single directory defined as the storage group you are expecting 
your recordings to be in.

If you have more than one directory then you have to ask the backend where the recording is. I'm 
sorry I can't tell you how to get that.
