[mythtv-users] HD PVR kernel settings?

Can anyone help me track down the (minimum) required kernel settings for
the HDPVR driver?  Whenever I build the driver into my kernel, I get a
kernel panic upon boot.  Since I don't have access to a serial console, I'm
unable to record the full error message and any help on the kernel settings
would be greatly appreciated.  This is happening with both kernel versions
4.1.12 and 3.18.7.
