That sounds like an apport popup error message.  If you burrow down
into the error data when the popup occurs, it will normally tell you
what actually failed.  I am not sure why the top level reports the
wrong program as having crashed, but it does.  In my case, the usual
problem is a bad recording causing mythcommflag to crash.  Take a look
at /var/log/apport.log*, and you should find messages pointing to
copies of the latest crash reports.  They seem to be stored in
/var/crash for a while, but get cleaned up later - I am not sure
exactly when.
