I 2nd that recommendation as it's a great tool. It quickly copies good bits and will then
keep trying bad areas. If you use a log file (you really must!) then you can keep running it
with even more retries.
On disks that are basket case, it can takes a long time, but other disks it will fully
recover (every sector!) very quickly.
