[mythtv-users] Upgrading an ancient box

Hi,

I am finally getting around to updating my horribly out of date FE/BE
combo. It's running 0.24.1 on Fedora Core 12! It has been sort of a
"if it ain't broke, don't fix it" thing. The statistics page on mythweb
tell me I've been using MythTV for 11.5 years! It's been great.

The new box will again be a FE/BE combo. I have 2 video sources, 1
HDHomeRun (2 tuners) for OTA channels, and 1 Hauppage HD PVR for
DirecTV. Video output is to an HD television, audio goes to my receiver.

I plan to get a SSD for the OS and DB, and I have a newer 3 TB drive to
use for recordings. I could use some suggestions on
motherboard/cpu/graphics. I've generally used Nvidia cards in the past
and have been quite happy with them. I would prefer to have a graphics
solution where most if not all of the decoding gets offloaded.

I will also probably need some help getting the DB moved over to the new
system. I haven't been reading this list for a while, but I recall that
0.24 is old enough that newer versions don't even know how to upgrade
the DB.

Thanks,
Kristo
