One more point probably worth reiterating.  Unless you're
experimenting just to satisfy some curiosity whether you can make it
work, you're much better off just buying an MCEUSB device than trying
to make the HDPVR IR transmitter work well.  They're well supported
and much more flexible (i.e. better support for newer RC protocols and
no crappy blob of STB codes) than the transmitter built into the
HDPVR.
