My normal install routine for CentOS has been to download ISOs, put them
on my local net and install from there. But the only ISOs I found for
Fedora were the server and live desktop. The live desktop format didn't
appear suitable for a PXE install. Only the server. So that's why I went
with the server. After install I would normally point yum back at the
mounted ISO image for any additionally needed packages. The problem here
is that the server ISO is really stripped down.
My solution was to set Yum back to it's default
download.fedoraproject.org source. Everything is there. X installed fine
once I used that as a source. At the cost of some bandwidth for some
downloading.
