I doubt it is QT for you say you can start and run mythtv-setup.

Did you previously have a frontend with the same hostname?
So then probably a setting from that old frontend is sabotaging your
current one.
For instance did that frontend have multiple screens?
Anyway, if you now give your frontend another new name you start with
all default settings.
