To clear out everything, go to Sources and do "Delete all sources" NOT "Delete 
all sources on this host". That should nuke all your channel information. Then 
recreate the source(s) as new.

Then go and do your scans and you should not get any overlapping channel 
information, so should not get any obscure dialogs.

TIP: Answering "Delete all" to any of those dialogs effectively cancels out the 
scan you just did. Learned that the hard way.

You will likely get every channel available on your sat receiver, most of which 
you should set invisible rather than deleting them.

The first available channel (that isn't invisible) should be set as the 
"starting channel" once you have completed a successful scan. As mentioned, this 
will change whenever you use LiveTV.
