[mythtv-users] Mythtv 0.27.04 kills video playback with Radeon 7750?

Hi - I recently acquired a Radeon 7750 and got it working on my Ubuntu 14.04 system(cloned screens on VGA and HDMI - although HDMI only at 30Hz....but that's another issue!). Everything works ok - audio, video, games etc.

When I install mythtv 0.27 it seems to works ok. I usually use mythbuntu control centre and 0.27 PPA from there, so it picks up the .27.04 updates - and then I get no video playback (just a black screen with 'Please wait...'), but audio is fine.

I've had to reinstall twice, and am about to put mythtv back on today (though no updates this time)......but does anyone know if this is a known issue, or if it can be fixed?
I've seen a few posts about a 'no video playback' issue but these seem to be related to earlier versions of ubuntu.
Can anyone help with what I could do to fix? (other than by an Nvidia card!)
Thanks.
