Agreed. My Hitachi TV displays Mythtv faultlessly at 1080p but dropping into a 
command prompt is painful.

Even though I /can/ do maintenance by sitting in front of it I prefer to ssh in 
when updates are required.

Of course, sometimes you don't get that option...
