I used to do it that way too but you can’t gdp every process, particularly jobs, so having the O/S make coredumps and a utility automatically bt them is so much nicer. You should give it a try.

FWIW I agree that the problem is likely bad audio data & meant to append that to my original post but ran short of time. And back to the first point you should see posts here as observations and wisdom from fellow travellers rather than an effort to torment any particular person. I think that’s most people’s reason for being on the list.
