I am using a customised MythCenter-Wide 1.7 on Mythbuntu 14.04
(v0.27.4-33-g05dbcee).  I get text saying "There are 2 recordings in
this display group, which consume 4.44GB".  It seems to be displayed
in the "description" field, when you have a group of programs
selected.  Since the text comes from the mythfrontend program code,
rather than the theme, you should be seeing it in all themes as long
as the theme displays the "description" field when displaying a group
of programs.

In MythCenter-Wide 1.7, this seems to be where it is displayed from
(in the recordings-ui.xml file):
