[mythtv-users] Mythweb's Recorded Programs page takes a long time to render in Firefox

Dear list,
As per the subject: I've got quite a few recorded programs, and they
take a long time (order of magnitude: 10 seconds) to display. It takes 1
or 2 seconds for the data to be generated and sent over the network to
my laptop, but then another 8 or so seconds for the page to be displayed
by the browser. That's when the thumbnails of all recordings have
already previously been generated and are present in the browser cache
on my laptop.
The laptop runs Ubuntu 14.04. The CPU is an Intel Core i7-2670QM with a
maximum clock rate of 2.20 GHz, but I'm running the ondemand cpufreq
governor and although there is plenty of work for one core to do while
it's rendering the page it does not raise the clock frequency above 800MHz.
I realise that this list is about MythTV and my question is about
Firefox. So I'll happily take it elsewhere if you have any advice as to
where to take it.
My detailed questions:
- does anyone know how to configure Firefox to at least start rendering
earlier than it does?
- does anyone know why the ondemand cpufreq governor is not raising the
frequency despite one thread being fully occupied for many seconds?
- is there any way of making Firefox use more than one thread for this
workload?
Many thanks, Jan
