"perfect" is in the eye of the beholder.  Some people's minds
are not capable of perceiving artifacts that drive others crazy
(remember the "debate" about 60Hz flicker?  Some people were
not lying about not seeing it).  And while almost everyone can
see bad de-interlacing, some will tolerate it for "cheap"
("perfect" means cheap to some).

And some TV's (and/or A/V receivers) have excellent video
processing units that can do a better job than (perhaps) even
nvidia (as long as you send them the interlaced video as
interlaced), although I have not experimented to know if the
current crop of Intel GPUs can do interlaced output correctly.

There are lots of other possibilities, but all require coding
(of one form or the other) to be a MythTV Frontend (and
that means full MythTV Frontend, not something else).
