The new ExternalRecorder framework John has put in to 0.28 allows for
precisely this.  It allows for third-parties to create separate
binaries with a well-defined interface (using stdin/stdout/stderr),
and this allows for the recorder to run out of process as well as
being distributed separately from MythTV itself.
