I think the following might address the issue of firewall or no and other
networking questions. I am doing reconfiguration of the Myth machine
primarily via ssh from another machine on my LAN--the same machine I'm
using to try and connect, using a graphical browser, to MythWeb. To ssh
into the MythTV machine, I simply issue, from the command line on that
host, "ssh root at mythmachine," am prompted for a password, after giving
which, I am logged in. So there is obviously ssh traffic moving between
the two machines via host name. I believe I've done the same ssh procedure
by IP since I've started this project as well.
I don't recall whether I installed iptables and cannot check at this
moment. I did try running the command Gabe referenced and got some output,
but I am not conversant enough in iptables to interpret it. If that seems
worth pursuing in light of what I've laid out above, I can post that
output here later. Thanks
