Last night I hooked up an Acer Revo R3610 frontend to this backend,
and there are no problems with LiveTV playback (using VDPAU Normal)
from the ivtv-based input.

On the local SD-only frontend (xv-blit video ) the issue persists.
I've tried various deinterlacers (including none at all) but LiveTV
still fails unless I pause it quickly for a second or two, and then
resume playback.

It *seems* like a timing issue to me - there is enough latency in the
remote frontend connection (over GbE) such that the recording buffer
has enough video for playback to start immediately.

Does anyone have any other ideas/suggestions?

Cheers,
Nick
