Are you in the SF Bay Area? I ran into this problem starting around
February or March of 2013 (IIRC). Overnight my HD recordings went from
~6GB/hour to 18GB/hour. I made a few calls to tech support but they
(obviously) had no idea what I was talking about and didn't ever transfer
me to someone who knew enough to address the problem. I finally gave up
because I was moving in a few months and it wasn't worth my time.

Are you also seeing recordings fail? I had a number that did that because
Myth wouldn't get the right PMT/PAT packets within a given deadline (they
were buried in the flood of NULL packets) so I had to hack around that. If
you're seeing that I may still have the scripts sitting around.

If you ever do track down what the root cause is I'm really curious as to
what it is.
