As usual Bill you're right on:

daryl at daryl-A780L3C:~$ ls -l /dev/dvd /dev/sr0
ls: cannot access /dev/dvd: No such file or directory
brw-rw----+ 1 root cdrom 11, 0 Sep 24 13:39 /dev/sr0

I've started the archive over and have every confidence that it will be
successful this time, Thanx
