I dug through my box of old parts last night and it turns out that I had
an extra card (GeForce 9500 GT / Zotac ZT-95TEH3P-HSL). I connected the
SPDIF-in on the card to the mainboard's SPDIF-out, hooked up the TV with
a DVI-to-HDMI cable, and I now have audio.

FWIW, I just set Myth to use IEC958 and the video card passed the audio
right through. I'm pretty sure I had tested this with the onboard DVI
port and I didn't get any sound. It's too bad they hadn't connected the
SPDIF on the mainboard to the built-in DVI connector. Oh well...

Thanks,
Joe
