Yes I think it would be a great idea.

You can already tell MythMusic to use a different audio device
so you can have for example video playback audio going
through HDMI to the TV and music going to the analogue audio
out for headphones or an amp but it would be nice to make it
more generic and to be able to choose which output to use at
any time.
