Well, it's just a flag for myth to use when choosing programmes to  
record. Also for me in the UK the HD stations always use H.264 and  
have more bandwidth allocated. I've seen recordings from SD and HD  
versions of the same channel and the HD looks better regardless of the  
source material (HD downscaled for SD, SD upscaled for HD, old movies  
etc). Another thing, the HD channels sometimes broadcast in  
progressive meaning no need for a de-interlacer.
