Well, the situation has become clearer to me as I've read the traffic 
here. At first I thought there was a data structure change which might 
break 24.3. Now it's clear this is a corporate change which will cause 
some host name changes breaking the host names hard coded into older 
versions of MythTV.

Hence the talk of DNS work-arounds.
