Just one more heads up but if you get spdif working do a dummy recording
and check for audio drift.  It is a known issue with some STBs.  With my
VIP dish receiver it gets noticeably off after 15 minutes of recording.  I
actually just tried it again a few days ago.

All this trouble may lead to worries about the hdpvr.  I've used 2 for many
years and once set up they have been rock solid.
