If you install the MythTV for Plex channel on your PMS you can access all
your recordings from there, and stream to your cellphone - I was watching
The Daily Show while stuck in traffic on Friday (Don't try this at home).
They don't have to be MP4 because the PMS does all the realtime transcoding
in the background for you.

The interface isn't as elegant as actually reading the shows in as if they
were in the Plex "TV shows" library. To accomplish this I use mythlink.pl
to create symlinks to the original recordings with names Plex can
process... i.e. somerecordingnameandrandomnumber.mpg becomes "show -
episode se01e01.mpg" - This method is a bit tougher because something
always seems to break. I haven't had it running reliably for at least a
year.
