256MB *is* going to give you trouble playing some content.

Having said that, there was a tiny memory leak in vdpau in mythtv < 0.27.1
I don't think it would have made a difference as it shouldn't make a
difference as it shouldn't be using any GPU ram, but you never know...

can try the devel/027candidates branch, mythtv master or wait until
0.27.1 is released and try again...
