it will never be as fast as a TV the way mythtv is setup where when
you change to a channel, it starts a new recording, then when it has
saved enough data it tells the frontend which will then attempt to
read it.

Plus, the way the backend attempts to look at the signal quality,
close the cards and reopen it for the recorder... it's very messy. all
that add several seconds

having said that, with the new changes you're only about 2-3s behind
live as opposed to 7+ before

the broken DVD playback looked like a black screen with green blocks moving...
it's very typical.
