Sorry for jumping in without knowing the previous conversations but I had
an omnipresent issue in the past which may relate to your discussion.
My epg populates from german eit via dvb-c and therefore I can confirm
that they move around the starttimes (and endtimes) a lot! It is not only
varying starting times for tv series from one week to another, but
additionally corrections and re-corrections of previously received eit
data!

Because of this I ended up in creating manual recording rules for all tv
series that defines a time range - e. g.:
program.title = 'How I Met Your Mother' AND
DAYNAME(CONVERT_TZ(program.starttime, 'Etc/UTC', 'SYSTEM')) = 'Wednesday'
AND HOUR(CONVERT_TZ(program.starttime, 'Etc/UTC', 'SYSTEM')) >= 19 AND
HOUR(CONVERT_TZ(program.starttime, 'Etc/UTC', 'SYSTEM')) < 23

This works well.

Hope this helps,
Nicolas
