If you install mythtv from rpmfusion you will get a mythbackend.service 
file which works with systemd. Use the meta package and you get all the 
dependencies in one go. (Never done that myself, I build from source)

That file works like the old style /etc/init.d/mythbackend file.
Thereafter the setup is exactly the same: myth doesn't know or care what 
is running underneath. (OK so long as mysql (or mariadb) is running.)

Systemd was new on Fedora 17 and I have been using it since the install. 
No real problems relating to systemd or myth on systemd (Lots of fun 
with modules for one of my tuners, but that's not systemd's fault).
