[mythtv-users] Hardware support available?

Greetings Mythizens, I'm running 27.3 on precise and have noticed that
hardware support is available from the update manager. I've been itching to
move to Trusty,but ran into problems with other attempts. Today I cloned my
OS to a external drive and went ahead with the hardware support update.
Watching the update in progress I noticed a Fatal error, could not unpack
kernel 13. something or other. Glad I decided to clone. The update finished
regardless and I rebooted only to find the display improperly detected for
the desktop and no sound in the properly displayed Myth screen. Another
attempt a week or so back, involved a clean install of Trusty with Myth
from Software Center, but I get stuck in the first few screens of of
setting myth up, and even after reading about it on this list I still
haven't been able to progress beyond that loop.  Any suggestions to get to
Trusty would be appreciated, I am a Capricorn after all :))
