Couple of things.

Easy one is mythbackend has a -noupnp option. Check your distribution 
doesn't set that by default.

Do your devices not see the server at all ? I have 2 Sony smart TVs. One 
(2010) can see the backend upnp server, but sees is a  corrupted source, 
and cant connect to it. A newer (2013) works fine.
