Good morning,
Since today's update of mythtv 0.27.1 I am unable to play any of my slave backend
recordings on all frontends, even on the slave backend machine. The recordings are dark in
my theme, and popup a warning "Recording Unavailable"
This setup was running fine until today's update.
First a little about my setup. Two machines, Combined Frontend/Master Backend named "thor"
at 192.168.2.1 and a slave backend named "charlie" at 192.168.2.3 Both run Ubuntu 14.04
with mythbuntu updates. the version is shown as
2:0.27.2+fixes.20140701.572c4e3-0ubuntu0mythbuntu3
thor has one ATSC capture card getting over the air, with two disks mounted at /disk1 and
/disk4
the storage groups are at /disk1/video and /disk4/video. charlie has two HDPVR-1212s
connected to two satellite receivers, and two storage groups at /disk2/video and /disk3/video
The frontend will show the following error 100x, run from either machine
PlaybackBoxHelper: CHECK_AVAILABILITY 'myth://192.168.2.3/charlie' file not found
I have had 0 byte files where the same error shows up
myth://192.168.2.3/1279_20140701180000.mpg instead
the slave backend will show a similar error in the logs
2014-07-01 14:47:48.103180 I adding: thor as a client (events: 0)
2014-07-01 14:47:48.104553 I MainServer::HandleAnnounce FileTransfer
2014-07-01 14:47:48.104559 I adding: thor as a remote file transfer

2014-07-01 14:47:48.106042 E ERROR: LocalFilePath unable to find local path for 'charlie'.
2014-07-01 14:47:48.106051 E Empty filename, cowardly aborting!
2014-07-01 14:47:50.779218 I MainServer::ANN Playback
2014-07-01 14:47:50.779227 I adding: thor as a client (events: 0)
2014-07-01 14:47:50.780655 I MainServer::HandleAnnounce FileTransfer
2014-07-01 14:47:50.780661 I adding: thor as a remote file transfer
2014-07-01 14:47:50.782108 E SG(): FindFile: Unable to find 'charlie'!
same in the backend logs, and still in this version, a real 0 byte file (or missing file)
will show the proper filename.
It looks to me like instead of the filename, the server hostname is being inserted.
New scheduled recordings are not playable. LiveTV works, and if I hit record from inside
live TV that show is playable.
but as soon as I restart the backend, everything is offline again.
I have dropped my database and started clean, on all 3 version that I have tried
About two weeks ago, I tried the 0.27/candidates repository and had the same issues. After
a day I reverted back, using my database backup. The same issue exists for me in
0.28.0~master.20140630.c70ae26 from mythbuntu repos.
Another curious effect. If I change my configuration so that thor is the slave, and
charlie is the master. The unavailable recordings flip, and this issue follows the backend
that is started as a slave.
I have tried to search, but since it shows my hostnames, I can't search for the exact
string. I couldn't find anyone else in dev or users mailing list with the same issue.
Thanks for your help,
Richard Woelk
