I'll have to respectfully disagree. :)  At least for my environment.

For the large majority of my recordings, mythcommflag does a very good job.
 For these recordings, fine-tuning an auto-detected cut point is sure to be
faster than searching for it manually, since the manual search process will
involve the same fine-tuning at the end.  Since commercial break lengths
and the time between commercial breaks is fairly consistent, it's easy to
tell visually whether any cut sections or keep sections are unusually long
or short and thus need further inspection.  Also, I modified my theme's
osd.xml to use "fulltimedisplay" instead of "timedisplay" which gives a
running total of the post-cutlist length, giving me an overall sanity check
since e.g. hour-long programs always reduce to about 42 minutes.  The only
consistent problems are at the start and end of the program, so the editing
is a lot more manual there.

Anyway, everyone's situation may vary, but it's great to have a variety of
tools and workflows available.
