Passive scanning will pick up EIT for all channels on the multiplex, so  
maybe you recorded from a companion channel for it to pick up the shopping  
stuff.

mythtv-setup/Capture Cards/<tuner>/Recording Options/"Use DVB card for  
active EIT scan" is the checkbox you're looking for.

You can verify Active scanning by turning EIT logging on;

mythbackend --setverbose eit

and you should see messages such as:

mythbackend[3835]: I TVRecEvent eitscanner.cpp:269 (StartActiveScan)  
EITScanner (10): StartActiveScan called with 5 multiplexes
