Why do you think the disk is toasted?
Have you tried booting from the old disk on a new MB? What errors did
you get?

Brian,
Thanks for the response.  I suppose that I should have been
more clear in my first post when I asked for advice on how to recover
the data.  It's about 475 GB of recordings.  I don't have a RAID system
and I don't back up the recordings because they are *that* important.
But I'd like to try to recover them if it's possible.  I'm hoping that I
don't need heroic effort; I'm hoping that someone who knows about LVM
can coach me.

Stinga,
I'm sorry.  I should have included that part in the post:  When booting the disk with an identical motherboard, it loads Mythdora to about 90% (my impression from the progress bars), then it says "Boot has failed.  Sleeping forever."
